David Lee

Financial Services Veteran, Director, Board Member & Advisor of MNCs, Public Entities & Listed Company



David Lee is a Financial Services veteran with close to 40 years international experience spanning across Banking, Payments, Accounting, Auditing, Education and more.  

 

David was appointed to the Board of Maybank Singapore Limited (MSL) on 1 October 2018. He was a Member of the MSL Risk Management and Compliance Committee till 2021 and currently rotated to the Audit Committee of the Bank. David is the lead Independent Director of SGX-listed company Manufacturing Integration Technology Ltd (MIT), holding the Chairmanship of both Audit & Nominating Committees at MIT, and also a Member of both MIT’s Remuneration & Investment Committees.

 

David started his career in 1983 as an auditor with KPMG. He joined Visa International in 1985, holding key positions of CFO, CAO, COO and CEO (2008) over 25 years. He left Visa in 2010 to join China UnionPay (CUP) as a Special Advisor to the Chairman of CUP, to strategise and internationalise CUP’s brand and business. Subsequently David was appointed as Director and CCO of CUP’s wholly owned subsidiary UPI till 2017.  David continued to provide advisory support in Singapore on its South East Asia region business expansion from 2021 to 2023.

 

David was a Director, Board Member, and Advisor to various public and private entities. He was a Director of Halogen Foundation from 2011 to 2012, Director and Advisor of Red Dot Payment Pte Ltd in 2018, and Senior Advisor to Jewel Paymentech Pte Ltd from 2017 to 2018. He was the Chairman of Yalamanchili, advising the global IT services company on business management for two years from 2019. In the public sector, he was a Director of National Library Board from 2003 to 2007 and was a Member of Advisory Board, School of Accountancy, Singapore Management University from 2004 to 2016. David is also now on the panel of Start Up Advisors at SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

 

David is a Certified and Chartered Accountant, having won the prestigious Lee Foundation Award in 1981. He is a fellow of UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), and also a fellow of Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. David took the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 2003. He is married with three grown up children, and is now based in Singapore. He enjoys running for leisure.
